The lower-48 is starving. But Alaska has $8 Billion extra due to the price of oil. The State will be spending some of that money in our communities. There will be enough jobs. Only the people who cannot support their credit card "Barrons" while being forced to pay the high cost of that oil will be forced into bankruptcy. Fortunately, there still is GOOD life after bankruptcy. You usually can keep your home, car and almost everything else that most people possess---even after bankruptcy. Most folks lose only their oppressive credit card and other consumer debts, leaving them able to pay the house payment.
Meanwhile, word is out that Alaska still has money and jobs. I think that a new crop of pilgrims from the lower-48 will be appearing soon. They will need places to live, and that will help sell the extra homes. Just don't continue building spec homes until there is real demand again. Trackbacks
